Crisálida, Glasswing's volunteer corps, is excited to present its mentoring program. Mentors are dedicated individuals who help children reach their full potential. Mentors commit to becoming a friend to a child in need, dedicating part of their time to listen, guide, and expose their new match to a world beyond what they know. Mentors have been heralded around the world as key ingredients in shaping the academic and overall development of youth.
Our program is based on successful mentoring models that exist in the United States. In a 2002 study conducted by The Child Research Brief in "Mentoring, a promising strategy for your development", it was found that children being mentored:
- were less likely to develop aggressive behavior
- had better attendance at school
- improved academic confidence and improved their attitude towards studies
- improved their relationships with friends and family
- Make a one-year commitment
- Meet with your match 3 times a month for a total of 4.5 hours
- Complete a short training
- Undergo background check
At Crisálida, we believe social integration is crucial to help future generations prosper in an environment of peace and security. We invite all who are interested in making a profound and lasting impact on a child's life, and on your own. For more information please contact Maria Carvajal at mcarvajal@glasswinginternational.com
